The first meeting of the month shall consist of a salon competition in color slides, color prints, and black-and-white prints. All members are eligible to submit entries and are urged to participate. The following rules are not intended to be restrictive but rather, to enhance competition by providing equal opportunity for all members. The purpose of the Fargo-Moorhead Camera Club is to provide an organization that is open to all who desire to further their skill, knowledge and enjoyment of photography. Each salon will be judged by a competent judge who may or may not be a photographer, but who has expertise in the visual arts. Judges are usually professional photographers or teachers from the community and we are deeply indebted to them for their generous contributions of time and talent. Judges are asked to critique each entry and provide helpful suggestions on ways that photographs might be improved. Members are reminded that judging is to a considerable degree subjective and critique is designed to be instructive. The main purpose of competition is to improve our skills and we should accept the judge's comments in an educational light. Salon entries must be turned in by the deadlines specified by the contest chairpersons so that there will be ample opportunity for the entries to be logged in and for the judge to study each entry carefully. The drop point and deadline will be announced by the contest chairperson. Salon chairpersons have the right to reject any entry for any reason deemed to be in the best interests of the club. Entries winning points in any salon are not eligible to be entered in any future club salon, but may be entered in N4C competition. All entries will be handled with care but the club will not be responsible for accidental damage. Proper labeling of entries and spotting and cleanliness of slides are the responsibility of the member submitting the entry.
