Print Salon rules
1, There are three print
salon divisions:
BLACK-AND-WHITE PRINTS- All prints in this division must be entirely the
work of the entrant. They may be any size up to 16 x 20 inches and
must be mounted. The mount size must not exceed 16 x 20 inches.
COLOR PRINTS "B"- This division is intended for beginners and less
experienced photographers. Prints in this division may be commercially
processed. Entries may be any size up to 16 x 20 inches and must be
mounted. Mount size may not exceed 16 x 20 inches. The winner
for the year will automatically advance to the "A" Division for the
following year.
COLOR PRINTS "A"- This division is for more experienced photographers.
Entry rules are the same as for the "B" Division. Persons entering the
color print salon are asked to notify the print salon chairperson as to
which division they whish to be assigned.
2. There are no assigned categories and prints may be of any subject.
3. All prints must be titled and bear the entrant's name on the back of the print in the upper left-hand corner.
4. A maximum of three prints may be entered in the color divisions. A maximum of three prints may be entered in the black-and-white division. A member may enter the black-and-white division plus one of the color print divisions.
5. Prints must be picked up after the salon competition.
6. Entries will be awarded
one point for entering the salon, plus one point for each print entered up
to the maximum allowed under rule #4.
If, for example, three black-and-white prints are entered, four total entry
points will be awarded. If three color prints are entered in either
"A" or "B" divisions, four total entry points will be given. If one
member enters the maximum of three black-and-white prints plus three color
prints, the total number of entry points would be eight, since the color and
black-and-white divisions are separate competitions.
Winning entries gain award points on the following basis:
First place- 5 points
Second place- 4 points
Third place- 3 points
Honorable mention (up to 3 per competition)- 2 points. If fewer than
twelve prints are entered in any division, the number of winners will not
exceed half the number of entries.
7. Points will be totaled and the top three winners will receive awards at the annual banquet.
8. All prints winning award
points are eligible for the Print of the Year competition.
