North Central Camera Club Council (N4C) There are 40 camera clubs in ten north-central states that comprise N4C. These clubs engage in monthly competition in several categories including Nature, Pictorial, Contemporary, Photo-Journalism, and Photo-travel, Stereo and 2 1/4 slides; Nature, Black-and-White, and Color Prints, Contemporary Prints, Photo-Journalism Prints, and Photo Essay. At the annual convention, held every autumn, member clubs will be honored and recognized for participation and contest winnings. There is also a spring meeting-- usually in early May, held at Springbrook State Park, near Guthrie Center, Iowa. There is much fun and fellowship along with educational programs at these meetings. All club members are urged to attend. Our club selects its monthly entries from slides and prints submitted by members according to the rules presented in the club booklet (annual report) and repeated on this web site. At times we may act as a judging club, and in those months we are not permitted to enter the competition in the category we judge. We are compensated though by being permitted double entries in the following month. We recognize our members who contribute entries through a point system based on both participation and winnings. High point winners are honored at the annual banquet in May. The success of our club in N4C competition is a source of pride to the club and is totally dependent on the dedication of those members who regularly submit entries into the competition. Members are encouraged to become involved so that our club entries truly represent our best efforts. The N4C competition, since it is area wide, provides a level of learning and experience that cannot be matched within the club itself and is therefore an opportunity for great improvement of photographic skills. The N4C Convention and Springbrook meetings provide a great opportunity for interactions with other "shutterbugs."
